PhD candidates are required to carry out teaching related to their dissertation topics at some
point during their enrolment. Accordingly, this subject is designed to introduce students to
teaching and learning in higher education in the 21st century both as a basis for their
PhD-related teaching and as a means of developing essential academic skills for the future.
The main objective is to introduce key theoretical concepts and the tools and strategies for
developing the practical skills relating to teaching, learning, assessment and their organization
in higher education settings.
